Summary Job Description Lurie Children's Hospital seeks a Sr. Cloud Engineer with experience migrating and updating AWS, Microsoft Azure servers and services. Design, develop and maintain cloud-based systems, ensuring efficient data storage and adherence to security policies. Work with clients to provide support with existing cloud-based services and make recommendations based on client needs with an industry standard focus. This position will be working for the Stanley Manne Children's Research Institute within the Research IT department.
Essential Job Functions: - Engineering, automating, and orchestrating system provisioning and maintenance processes using modern cloud tools and technologies
- Designing and building technical solutions on Cloud
- Planning, designing and developing cloud-based applications
- Understanding the needs for new initiatives to build scalable, distributed and high-performance computing cloud-based platform solutions on Azure, AWS, and Google or other cloud platforms
- Managing cloud environments in accordance with security guidelines
- Deploying and debugging Cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle
- Performing system administration tasks including configuration, systems monitoring, troubleshooting, and support while innovating to automate as much as possible
- Installing configuring, maintaining, and supporting applications and servers in public cloud environments
- Performing operating system and software application installation, patching, and upgrades
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues reported by monitoring systems and submitted through the ticketing system of fully documented issues, actions taken, and steps for resolution
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Experience migrating and updating Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure servers and services.
- Knowledge of relevant server, network and client operating systems and technologies e.g. Microsoft Windows, Linux or other operating system software.
- 5 years of experience working with client/server-based equipment/operating systems in a complex enterprise network environment.
- Experience in working with systems and applications in a university, research, or Health Care academic center. a. Note: Experience in working with systems in a Linux, open source, and cloud environments highly desired.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems/Technology/Computer Science (or equivalent work experience).
- Excellent time and project management skills, customer service and interpersonal skills, system diagnostic and communication (written and oral) are critical for success in this position.
- Analytical thinking for effective problem determination and correction within the department and in the user community is essential.
- Certification/Licensure/Registration in Cloud or UNIX specified certified desired.
