Pride.com is seeking a dynamic and passionate Deputy Editor to join our team. As the Deputy Editor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the editorial coverage and direction of Pride.com. You will be responsible for producing engaging and informative news stories and features, managing a team of freelancers, and ensuring the quality and accuracy of our content. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the LGBTQ+ media landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write compelling news stories, features, and opinion pieces that cover a wide range of LGBTQ+ topics, including current events, culture, entertainment, politics, and more.
- Stay up-to-date with LGBTQ+ news, and help us get ahead by spotting trends and great stories that need to be told.
- Edit and proofread articles to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to editorial guidelines.
- Collaborate with writers to improve their writing skills and maintain a consistent editorial style.
- Assist in developing and implementing strategies to engage and grow our audience.
- Contribute to editorial planning, including setting editorial calendars and identifying newsworthy topics.
- Manage a team of freelancers, including assigning and editing articles, setting deadlines, and providing feedback.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Engage with the LGBTQ+ community and build relationships with relevant organizations and individuals.
- Respond to reader comments and feedback in a professional and inclusive manner.
- Work with the social media team to promote Pride.com content and engage with our audience on various platforms.
Qualifications
Qualifications
:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in journalism, writing, and editing, with a focus on LGBTQ+ topics preferred.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience managing and collaborating with writers and freelancers.
- Familiarity with content management systems and social media platforms.
- Passion for LGBTQ+ issues and a commitment to promoting inclusivity and equality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
