Title: Director of Educational Services
Reports to: Chief Programs Officer
Department: Kayne Eras Center
Location: 5350 Machado Road, Culver City, CA 90230
FLSA Status: Exempt/D
Compensation: $105,000 - $125,000 Annually
Program Hours: Monday Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm
Supervisory Responsibility: All Kayne Eras (NPS) and NPA staff
Position Summary
The Director of Educational Services directs all aspects of the Kayne Eras School including: staffing; contracting, ECF, District, and California Department of Education (CDE) policy compliance; innovative program design, development, and implementation; complaints and investigations; fiscal budget analysis, creation and management; external outreach. The position oversees all school Program Managers and Directors including: The Principal, Assistant Director of School Administration, Dean, Athletic Director, Director of Arts and Student Development, and School Logistics Manager. The position is responsible for overseeing all Certifications and Accreditations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide Administrative Direction to the Administrative Teams of both the Kayne Eras School (NPS) and the Non-public Agency (NPA) including the design, oversight, and implementation of the programs goals and objectives.
- Develop and cultivate collaborative teams involved with operations.
- Create an annual school-focused strategic plan utilizing school-wide input.
- Provide initial and on-going assessments of program goals including those outlined in the School Strategic Plan and Quality Assurance Program.
- Keep abreast of and follow all relevant state, federal, and district legal mandates.
- Participate in the California Association of Private Special Education Schools (CAPSES)
- Create and monitor the NPA and NPS annual budget for all expenses and revenue associated with program operations.
- Represent the agency to advisory, educational, collaborative and/or networking bodies.
- Plan and coordinate training, educational and professional development activities for program personnel.
- In consultation with the Human Resources Department, handle personnel administration, including hiring, development, evaluation, and dismissal of those supervised in compliance with ECF policies, practices, and procedures.
- Develop systems to improve communication and overall program effectiveness.
- Maintain supportive, positive, solution-focused attitude to foster and model same for staff and students.
- Ensure the school maintains WASC accreditation.
- Ensure that both the NPA and NPS are in compliance with all ECF, school district, and California Department of Education mandates, guidelines, and requirements.
- Respond to all complaints and investigations with the support of CPO as needed.
- Serve as the liaison to the Parents Care Committee (PCC).
- Take leadership in new program development and innovative strategies. Keep abreast of current trends and requirements in the field of special education, including evidence-based practices, especially as they relate to student-centered Experiential Learning (learning through multi-sensory experience).
- Serve as liaison with ECF Administration Team.
- Meet regularly with Supervisor, Chief Program Officer.
Other Duties
- Comply with ECF policies and procedures, including HIPAA and mandated reporting requirements .
- To provide continuity of services, exempt employees are expected to observe regular, on-site work hours .

Qualifications
Education/Licenses/Certifications: A license issued by the CA. Board of Behavioral Sciences and/or a CTC Special-Education Credential and/or a Masters degree from an approved institution in a related field and/or an Approved Administration Credential. Certification that meets the requirements of Education Code 56366.1 (a) (5)
Experience: Five years supervisory and administrative/management work in a school setting, preferably in a Non-public school.
Knowledge/Abilities/Skills: - Excellent organizational abilities, understanding of objectives and goals and retention of details.
- Ability to manage time and work effectively to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated organizational, management, leadership, communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple projects.
- Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to deal appropriately with sensitive and confidential information.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in software applications including MS Office products: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
Requirements
- Valid California drivers license, reliable transportation, evidence of car insurance, and insurable driving record. Motorcycles are not permitted while driving for ECF, may only be used when commuting to and from your home to main worksite
- Pass a DOJ and FBI background investigation.
- Provide evidence of a negative TB test initially and every three years thereafter.
- Child & Adult Abuse Reporting, Behavior Management, and Confidentiality Training .
- Obtain and maintain NCI, First Aid and CPR certification.
Work Environment
This is a school environment for students (K12 th grade) who have varying degrees of learning, behavioral, emotional, and developmental disabilities. Employee may encounter students who are in crisis, exhibiting emotional/psychological distress or behaving in an aggressive manner. Administrative work will be performed in a separate office. However, incumbent will circulate in classrooms, outdoors, and other locations for meetings and special events. Environment may include frequent interruptions, loud noise, odors, varying indoor temperature, and drafts. Outdoor temperature and weather will vary.
Employee may not be in a room alone with a student unless the door or blinds are open. Students must never be left unattended. Physical Requirements
