The Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards (BAS) is currently seeking an Apprenticeship Training Representative (ATR) to join their team!

This position will be headquartered in La Crosse and is responsible for the following counties: Buffalo, Crawford, Jackson, Juneau, La Crosse, Monroe, Richland, Trempealeau, and Vernon.

It is anticipated that this position will work a blend of remote and in-office work. High speed internet access will be required to meet the needs of remote work.

This position requires the ability to travel on a regional or statewide basis at a minimum of three days a week with the occasional need for an overnight. These positions also require a flexible schedule to allow for participation in the Apprenticeship Advisory Council and State Trade Committee meetings which often occur in the evening.

Position Summary



This position involves a variety of activities designed to promote Registered Apprenticeship growth in the state of Wisconsin while sustaining existing relationships with local employers and partners. This work involves maintenance, management, and oversight of individual sponsor and local committee sponsored Registered Apprenticeship programs in a designated regional area. This position will be responsible for the administration and enforcement of State and Federal Apprenticeship laws and rules at the field staff level.

Salary Information



Starting salary is between $23.83 - $27.47 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period will be required.

The classification title for this position is Apprenticeship Training Representative (schedule 12, range 64). These positions are not represented in a collective bargaining unit and are exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan in effect at the time of appointment. Starting pay may vary for current state employees.

Job Details



Criminal histories : we consider all qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with applicable federal, state, and local law. Finalists for this position may be required to allow DWD to conduct a background check or other checks to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. For positions with access to sensitive federal tax information, FBI fingerprinting may also be required.

Eligibility to work in United States : applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a US citizen or national or a lawful permanent resident) at the time of appointment. DWD does not sponsor visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas. This is not a contract position. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.
