Job Description:
Position Overview:
The Florida Department of Corrections, Office of IT, is seeking an experienced Enterprise Application Integration Engineer to join their team. This role, operating under the working title of Technical Business Process Engineer , will play a critical role in modernizing, consolidating, and coordinating independently designed applications across the enterprise. As the principal line of communication for the project team, the Integration Engineer will ensure seamless communication among various IT systems and components.
Responsibilities:
The Enterprise Application Integration Engineer will be responsible for the following:
1. Integrated Solutions Development:
o Develop and deploy integrated solutions aimed at modernizing, consolidating, and coordinating applications within and across the organization.
o Determine how existing applications, legacy systems, databases, web interfaces, and hardware logic work together to meet new and emerging enterprise requirements.
2. Efficient Reuse of Components:
o Create methods to efficiently reuse existing components, optimizing resource utilization and reducing redundancy.
3. Business Requirements Gathering:
o Collaborate with users to gather business requirements.
o Perform database analysis to understand data structures and relationships.
4. Middleware Development and Testing:
o Code and test middleware routines to ensure successful communication among various IT systems and application components.
5. Architecture Design and Evaluation:
o Participate in component and data architecture design.
o Evaluate software products and provide recommendations on build vs. buy decisions.
6. Expertise in EAI Methodologies:
o Possess strong skills and knowledge of Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) methodologies.
o Familiarity with object-oriented programming, distributed systems, and cross-platform program communication using message brokers (e.g., Common Object Request Broker Architecture).
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, the ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Proven experience as an Integration Engineer or similar role.
Strong understanding of EAI concepts and best practices.
Proficiency in middleware development and testing.
Excellent communication skills to interact with users and project teams effectively.
