Job description
Provides for the safe production of a nutritionally sound, culturally responsive and developmentally appropriate menu for children served in the Thrive to Five program, compliant with the requirements of the CACFP and Head Start Program Performance Standards. Furthers the CAP mission through on-going collaboration with other CAP program and/or community partners with respect to food security & nutrition services.
Duties & Responsibilities
Core Function 1: Food Preparation & Handling
- Prepare food daily according to the set menu to ensure all required CACFP components are prepared & served for each approved meal type (e.g. breakfast, lunch, & snack)
- Be knowledgeable in food items recalled for safety reasons.
Core Function 2: Health & Safety
- Wear proper food service attire and ensure appropriate personal hygiene for handling food.
- Maintain a kitchen and storage environment that is sanitary, aesthetic, and free of pests.
Core Function 3: Customer Service
- Develop and maintain good relationships throughout the agency and communities which we serve.
- Collaborate with families and program staff in designing & planning menu items.
Core Function 4: Grant Compliance
- Acquire and maintain all certifications (e.g. ServSafe) and clearances required by the agency.
- Acknowledge, maintain and follow all special diet paperwork.
Core Function 5: Community Engagement & Collaboration
- Contribute to event planning as requested
- Look for opportunities to improve and expand the team's service in the community.
Qualifications/ Job Factors - High School diploma or GED required.
- PA Driver's License required.
- Prior experience in food service preferred.
- ServSafe Certification within 6 months of hire.
