As the Senior Lab Quality Manager at Gallo's Modesto Corporate Headquarters you will direct and supervise the Modesto Wine Analytics and Microbiology (WAM) group, that delivers lab services to Bottling Operations, Winemaking, and product innovation teams. This role develops and implements strategic approaches for bottling support labs in support of Gallo's ISO 17025 certification. You will be a part of a greater team that leads a center of excellence for support labs across the enterprise and co-manufacturing partners, ensuring consistent standards, response plans and work instructions are executed. As a Gallo lab leader, you will continuously identify, develop and implement new technology, methods, procedures and processes that improve the overall speed and effectiveness of lab programs.

What You Will Do

Center of Excellence for Bottling Laboratories

•  Leads a cross functional laboratory team to standardize bottling lab functions throughout the Gallo Lab network and co-packing partners.
•  Directly manages the WAM bottling laboratories ensure resources, technology, and methods are suitable to sustain bottling operation execution.
•  Investigates, recommends, and implements new bottling lab methodology; oversees implementation throughout the laboratory network. Works in concert with peers in Modesto Analytical Services Laboratories and the Microbiology COE to ensure aligned approach.

ISO 17025 Quality Management Systems

•  Ensures laboratory compliance with ISO 17025. Drives ISO program execution where applicable. Oversees and engages in audits in support of ISO certification.
•  Drives enterprise bottling laboratory standards and work instructions linked to Corporate Quality and Food Safety standards to align execution, methods and laboratory activities across the enterprise.
•  Participates in the development of and implements a successful vision/strategy for enterprise bottling labs, utilizing strong leadership skills.

Leading a High Performance Team

•  Ensures employee conformance to established best practices and proper training of staff.
•  Confers with management, customers and others in planning, scheduling and managing of lab quality assurance programs in accordance with customer requirements, specifications and production schedules.
•  Continuously improves and develops technical skills; stays current with the latest scientific and trade literature and takes initiative to apply ideas that potentially could contribute to improved methods and commercial outcomes.
•  Manages the budgeting process including the financial justification for the acquisition and application of new technologies.

What You Need
•  Bachelor's degree plus 8 years Plant Quality, Lab, Food Safety Manufacturing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility to include supervisory or managerial experience; OR Master's degree plus 6 years plant quality, lab, Food Manufacturing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility to include supervisory or managerial experience.
•  Required to travel across network sites to perform essential functions.
•  Required to lift up to 25lbs.
•  Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
•  Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

What Will Set You Apart
•  Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science or any Physical/Life Science, Engineering, Business Administration or Food Science plus 10 years of Plant Quality, Food Safety Manufacturing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility to include supervisory or managerial experience. OR Master's degree plus 8 years of Plant Quality, Food Safety Manufacturing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility to include supervisory or managerial experience.
•  Experience reading, analyzing and interpreting common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Experience responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Experience writing speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
•  Experience effectively presenting information to top management, public groups and boards of directors.
•  Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing solid conclusions. Experience interpreting an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Compensation:
•  Hiring Salary Range Posted: $130,500 - $195,700 / year
•  Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
