This position is currently offering a $15,000 signing Bonus!

Summary:

Coordinate and supervise the clinical physics support in Radiation Oncology.

Experience:

Certified by either the ABR or ABMP in all branches of Medical Physics, with minimum 5 years experience including Brachytherapy and Clinical Dosimetry. Certification from NYS Dept of Edu.

Education:

PhD or Masters in Medical Physics

Essential Functions:

Coordinate all clinical physics activities for the institution.


Calibration of Radiation Therapy machines for all energies and set ups used for accurate delivery of radiation dose to the patient.

Perform acceptance testing of new equipment.


Perform the quality assurance program set forth by the AAPM Task Group 40.

Maintain records and surveys required by the NYSDOH and JCAHO reviews.

Coordinate and supervise all maintenance and calibrations of physics instruments, personnel monitoring devices, radiation therapy linear accelerators, x-ray simulator and treatment planning computer.

Responsible for ensuring that all periodic requirements regulated by Federal, State and other national protocol agencies are performed.

Develop new protocols and procedures.

Maintain monthly and annual quality assurance and calibration records for radiation therapy machines.

Other Duties:

Collaborate with and provide coverage as needed with other radiation oncology Guthrie sites.

Patient Contact:

Provides direct care to patients of all ages and interacts with family member when needed.

Working Conditions:

Normal office environment. Artificially well-lighted, well ventilated area.

Tight work area. Limited space in some areas.

Mental Demands:

Non-routine duties requiring independent judgement.

Attention to detail over an extended period of time is required.

Critical thinking skills and an ability to assess, evaluate and/or teach are required.

The ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects by planning and organizing own work.

Occasional stress due to departmental pressure.

Requires the ability to communicate effectively and be self-directed to a large degree.

Routine duties requiring judgement in priorities and decisions with defined problems.

Routine, repetitive duties with minor variations under close supervision.

Semi-routine duties with a variety of difficulty under general supervision and guidelines.

Job Hazards:

Must be able to attend meetings throughout the system and/or periodically travel.

Normal standing, sitting, stooping, lifting, pushing, or walking.

Normal working conditions. Environmentally controlled indoor office setting.

External Contacts:

Frequent contact with visitors, community agency reps and other healthcare related orgs.
