Job description
OVERVIEW
The Estimator prepares written proposals in accordance with the department guidelines and procedures. They minimize the financial risk to the Company; provide guidance to the Take-Off Specialists as needed; and work with administrative assistance to ensure all RFQ's are responded to in a timely manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Estimator will review requests for a quote and provide an initial estimate of time needed to prepare a quote for the project. They will analyze construction blueprints, specifications and other documents to prepare a priced proposal while identifying opportunities that offer more efficient and cost-effective solutions. The Estimator will confer with engineers, contractors and other outside parties regarding changes to the proposal.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
The ideal candidate will possess the following traits and experiences, understanding of engineering drawings, specifications and contract documents, knowledge of estimating software, understanding of construction industry process for generating priced proposals, prior experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point, strong organizational and time management skills, able to work independently or as part of a team, exceptional attention to detail, and be an active listener.
