Randolph School is seeking an innovative teacher with a growth mindset to work within our Lower School Division (grades PK-4). The primary responsibilities consist of teaching language arts, math, science, and social studies, along with social-emotional skills in a self-contained lower school class of approximately 18 students. The teacher in this position will work closely with grade level teams, media specialists, and the library media center.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Love and nurture children within a supportive and inclusive environment
• Inspire students to reach high standards
• Plan, supervise, and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum in accordance with the philosophy of Randolph School and in collaboration with other grade level teachers and specialists
• Create opportunities for differentiated learning that include remediation and enrichment
• Be knowledgeable about children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development
• Demonstrate a history of collaborative relationships with parents and colleagues
• Maintain an effective, safe, inviting, well-organized and inventoried classroom
• Effectively monitor and manage student learning using a variety of assessment methods to evaluate student progress
• Demonstrate effective written and oral communication (parent conferences, written correspondence including narrative reports)
• Share duties and responsibilities with other members of the Lower School faculty
• Understand and appreciate the independent school philosophy
• Integrate technology appropriately in the classroom
• Identify and respond to each individual students’ learning needs and create enrichment and remedial opportunities; implement instructional strategies that contribute to meaningful learning experiences for all learners

Qualifications:

• B.S. or B.A. in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education from an accredited institution required, M.A. in Education and current AL teacher certification preferred
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in teaching lower school preferred
• Hold Responsive Classroom Educator certification (preferred) or have familiarity with the Responsive Classroom approach
• Fundations workshop completion or familiarity with the Wilson Language curricula
• Independent college preparatory school experience preferred

Interest and ability to contribute to our clubs, athletics, and extracurricular programs is an additional consideration.
