Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or higher (Required) New Jersey Health and Physical Education Teaching Certification (Required) New Jersey Standard Instructional Certification (Required) Duties: Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. Develops, plans, and implements goals for each student. Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Creates a gym and classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Participates in planning and implementing of specific behavior interventions. Works cooperatively with classroom teachers and related services in planning an effective, comprehensive health and physical education program. Assesses the learning, social, and emotional needs and styles of students. Evaluates each pupil’s growth in health- and physical education-related knowledge and skills, maintains records of pupils’ progress and summarizes these marks for reporting purposes. Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment to ensure the overall safety of pupils. Assumes responsibility for proper use and storage of physical education equipment.
