Job description

Daybreak is looking for a Housing Assistant to assist in our mission of providing Miami Valley homeless and vulnerable youth with services that promote safety, stability, and well-being. This position will play a role in achieving our vision of a promising future for all youth.

Benefits and Perks: The hourly rate for this position is $17 - $18 per an hour. The benefit package includes Health (PPO or HDHP), Dental, Vision, Life Insurance 50k, supplemental LIFE insurance, STD & LTD, Pet Insurance, a retirement plan, Employee Assistance Program, 10 paid holidays, Vacation - accrues up to 15 days (3weeks) annually and Sick leave - accrues up to 12 days annually. Daybreak offers hybrid (1 day a week) and flexible work schedules.

About Us: Daybreak was established in 1975 in Dayton, Ohio as an emergency shelter for runaway and homeless youth. Today, Daybreak operates the Miami Valley's only 24-hour crisis hotline and emergency youth shelter and has grown to include outreach, prevention, transitional housing, life-skills education, and other follow-up services for runaway, throwaway, and homeless youth.

Position Responsibilities: The Housing Assistant is responsible for a ssisting Housing Management with the day-to-day operations of maintaining all Housing Programs, including but not limited to; Apartment inspections, communication with landlords, maintenance requests, and client rent payments.

Collaborates with the Facilities team in client's moving process, ensuring the unit is move-in ready to include but not limited to; bedbug treatment, apartment, and carpets clean, walls painted, and maintenance requests have been fulfilled.

Orients eligible participants to the Housing program, providing housing search and supportive services to assist client's team in promoting participants self-sufficiency, integration into the community, and permanency in housing; performing administrative tasks involved in the review and maintenance of the Housing documentation caseload.

Assist Housing Management in the development and coordination of individual/group schedules and activities for clients to support program and service delivery.

Meets monthly productivity as outlined in 'Daybreak's Supplemental Duties for 'Housing Assistant' document (attached), according to standards set by Senior Management by providing CPST, TBS, PSR, CPST individual and group services dependent upon education and licensure, as appropriate. Ensuring clinical services paperwork is completed within 72 hours per agency standards and requirements.

Utilizes the therapeutic milieu and Trauma Informed Care model in managing youth behaviors, problem, and conflict resolution, deescalates crisis situations, coordinating with Housing and clinical team, as needed.

Performs routine check-ins with landlords to support participants in obtaining and maintaining housing and provides apartment inspections as needed.

Qualifications:

HS/GED required, AA or BA in Human Services or related field preferred. Experience with target population, preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and desktop/laptop computer operation, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and being a good problem-solver, a must.

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, flexible, self-motivated and a good problem-solver. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Must have a good driving record and be able and willing to transport clients.
