We operate with a network of over 150 therapists throughout Michigan. W ere thrilled to invite an exceptional Speech Language Pathologist to join our team in a n exceptional subacute care facility. Our mission of this program is to make a positive impact on the lives of our patients through compassionate and effective rehabilitation services.
Responsibilities:
Assessment: Conduct thorough evaluations to assess the speech language communication and swallowing abilities of geriatric patients.
Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings considering the unique needs and goals of each patient.
Speech and Language Therapy: Provide therapy to improve or rehabilitate speech and language skills addressing issues such as aphasia dysarthria or voice disorders.
Swallowing Therapy: Work with patients who may have difficulty swallowing (dysphagia) to improve their safety and ability to eat and drink.
CognitiveCommunication Therapy: Address cognitivecommunication disorders helping patients with memory attention and problemsolving skills related to communication.
Adaptive Communication: Introduce and train patients on alternative communication methods or devices if needed.
Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals including physicians nurses and occupational therapists to ensure comprehensive care for geriatric patients.
Education and Counseling: Educate patients family members and caregivers on communication strategies and provide emotional support.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records of assessments treatment plans and progress notes in accordance with healthcare regulations.
Advocacy: Advocate for the communication needs of geriatric patients within the healthcare system ensuring they receive appropriate and effective care.
Stay Informed: Keep uptodate with advancements in speechlanguage pathology and geriatric care attending relevant workshops or training sessions.
Patient and Family Support: Offer guidance and support to patients and their families throughout the rehabilitation process.
