The Manager, Digital Technology Services Business Partner - Research & Academics (DTSBP) has the overall responsibility to serve as the strategic interface with the HMH Research Institute, School of Medicine and other assigned areas for the purpose of technology strategy development, solution discovery, risk management and relationship management. The DTSBP serves as the liaison between research and school administration as well as DTS at the executive level and provides highly valued strategic consulting level support and guidance through key technology initiatives. They articulate direction back to stakeholder groups regarding the technology portfolio and advocate for the technology needs of the Research teams. They proactively share knowledge of technology risks and opportunities to build competitive advantage and improve efficiency and effectiveness of the Research Institute & School of Medicine. They partner with research & school leadership and other key stakeholders to define opportunities and identify and prioritize projects based on predefined criteria (e.g. return on investment, productivity, compliance). The DTSBP proactively serves as a `trusted advisor', and is the primary DTS point of contact to Research Institute & School of Medicine leadership. They operate as the key contact representing DTS in promoting technology services, solutions and capabilities. The DTSBP provides support in delivering technology products or services that meet the needs of the business and has a focus on strategic initiatives and planning activities. DTSBPs are proactive and anticipatory in their thinking. They are, by nature, driven and provide significant value to business units. DTSBP's facilitate the investment intake process and the high level planning and execution of business initiatives through the use of technology.
A day in the life of a Manager, Digital Technology Services Business Partner - Research & Academics (DTSBP)at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Serve as the liaison between Research Institute leadership and DTS leadership to support effective planning and prioritization of research needs with technology delivery capabilities to create a `win-win' environment for both teams.
- Work with Principal Investigators to understand their technology needs and engage proper technology teams to deliver appropriate solutions.
- Collaborate with the executive leadership of the HMH Research Institute to assess needs and assist in the development of solution roadmaps in support of a growing research division.
- Develop and sustain effective trusted relationships and partnerships with key partners to provide relevant insights, expertise and advice.
- Serve as a liaison between the Research Institute & Academics leadership and DTS to ensure that DTS solutions in areas support the needs of the institute by connecting research needs with the proper DTS teams.
- Manage assigned customer group(s) requests, incidents and overall project backlog in a hands-on manner through strong working relationships with DTS peer teams - applications infrastructure, data and analytics, PMO, among others
- Confidently articulate DTS strategic and tactical initiatives; have a clear understanding of the DTS portfolio of applications, technologies and services.
- Develop and maintain a current measurable level of customer satisfaction with DTS services and take prompt appropriate actions to ensure continuous improvement.
- Facilitate the inclusion of technology requirements in the grant writing process to ensure the availability of resources to support grant funded research & academics.
- Possess a knowledge of program administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in a university environment to support the delivery of compliant technology solutions.
- Ensure that planned clinical trials have the proper technology support to ensure secure and accurate data collection and analysis.
- Understand customer environments and industry/tech trends to facilitate convergence between DTS strategy and customer needs.
- Work to ensure proposed solutions are consistent with DTS architecture and infrastructure standards.
- Work with Finance to perform business analysis and prepare recommendations and business plans as needed.
- Oversee the launch of technology solutions and help to maximize the positive impact on the Research Institute & Academics
- Identify, screen and evaluate new solution opportunities to address unmet (internal and external) research needs in collaboration with Research Institute, Academics and DTS teams.
- Possess strong analytical skills, including an understanding of business economics and financial resources.
- Collaborate with the Project Management Office on the intake process and prioritization of candidate projects across the Network.
- Participate in portfolio planning, policy development, communication strategies around projects and their associated reporting. Participate in training, activation and optimization activities in this area.
- Ensure customer understanding of and participation in DTS project Governance procedures.
- Participate in strategic and budgetary planning processes; provide recommendations on desired policies and goals and implement new/revised programs according to established guidelines.
- Document, create and publish relevant customer reports to key internal stakeholders and customer group(s) at regular intervals.
- Provide effective direction, guidance and leadership, often through influence, for assigned team members and teams, fostering the effective integration of efforts with system-wide initiatives.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and demonstrate the use of quality and process improvement in daily operations.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Bachelor's degree with a Master's preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare technology management or equivalent healthcare environment, preferably in an integrated healthcare delivery system environment with exposure to the multi-faceted service lines.
- Demonstrated experience working with executive leaders in assessing needs, developing plans, and communicating value.

- Thorough knowledge of technology solutions which impact relevant area(s).
- Possess 3 or more years of the following experience: a. Experience with academic and clinical research operations. b. Demonstrated understanding of the technology needs of Principal Investigators and Research Division administrators. c. Knowledge of program administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in a university environment. d. Knowledge of clinical and translational research infrastructure and technology needs. e. Experience with clinical data management in a research environment including clinical trials. f. Familiarity with grant writing and grant administration processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
- Master's degree.
- Experience in an academic or pharmaceutical research environment.
