Minimum Qualifications Candidates will be required to pass a keyboarding test that demonstrates your ability to enter text at a rate of at least 30 words per minute with at least 96% accuracy.


NON-COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
There are no minimum education or experience requirements for this title. The selected candidate must pass a keyboarding test that demonstrates the ability to enter text at a rate of at least 30 words per minute with at least 96% accuracy by completion of probation.


COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be reachable for appointment on Current Civil Service Eligible List for this title.


REASSIGNMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
Current Office for People with Developmental Disabilities employees with one year of permanent, contingent permanent, or 55 B/C service as am Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding). If you have less than one year, you must be currently reachable on the eligible list.


TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/c status in the posted title and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 or 70.4 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two salary grades.

55 B/C QUALIFICATIONS:

PROVISIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
In the event that there is not a valid eligible list for this title in this location, candidates who meet the following open competitive qualifications may be qualified for a provisional appointment. To qualify, candidates must pass a keyboarding test that demonstrates your ability to enter text at a rate of at least 30 words per minute with at least 96% accuracy.


If you are appointed provisionally, you must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title, and your score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list, before you can be permanently appointed. If you do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score, you may not be retained.


Duties Description · Monitoring Admin Unit mailbox for miscellaneous requests
· Data entry to multiple applications/spreadsheets
· Answering and directing telephone calls
· Opening, logging, and distributing mail
· Scanning, copying, and electronic filing of various documents
· Keeping weekly Unit schedule
· Timely and correctly maintain records for list serve and distribution lists
· Maintain and update tracking spreadsheets
· Perform data entry into Incident Report Management Application as needed
· Order supplies as needed
· Other projects and clerical duties as necessary


Schedule may vary between 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM. Schedule and telecommuting will be discussed at the interview*

This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a noncompetitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.
If you are hired under the HELPS Program, you will be first be appointed as a temporary employee. In May 2024, if you are performing successfully in the position, your appointment will be changed from temporary to permanent non-competitive. Once you are in permanent status, your official probationary period
will begin and you may take any promotion exam for which you are qualified.
At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive
