Job description

We're on the lookout for a visionary Strategic Financial Leader to join our vibrant team in beautiful San Diego! If you're passionate about the arts and possess exceptional financial acumen, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

As the Strategic Financial Leader, you'll be at the forefront of our dynamic organization, spearheading finance and accounting initiatives with enthusiasm and creativity. You'll work closely with our dedicated team to support our mission of promoting contemporary art and enriching the cultural landscape of our community.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and inspire the finance and accounting team, providing strategic direction and hands-on involvement in day-to-day operations.
Oversee all accounting and financial activities, ensuring sound fiscal administration and establishing internal control procedures.
Manage cash activities to maintain appropriate levels and supervise the Business Office staff.
Maintain accounting control over donor-restricted funds, endowment funds, and Board-designated funds.
Prepare, review, and analyze timely financial reports, including statements and cash flow projections.
Collaborate with executive leadership to establish strategic priorities and facilitate workflow.
Partner with Human Resources to monitor salary and benefit schedules.
Oversee executive deferred compensation plans and valuation of planned gifts.
Manage the administration of insurance policies and risk management procedures.
Serve as a liaison for audit and investment committees, ensuring compliance with regulations.
Requirements:

Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to mentor and coach a high-performing team.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Proficiency in MS Office and advanced Excel skills; experience with Financial Edge NXT is a plus.
Bachelor's degree and at least 20 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with CPA certification required.
Experience in the non-profit or arts sector is preferred.
