Job Summary: The Senior System Administrator will play a critical role in configuring, tuning, and maintaining systems within NPS Data Centers. This individual will bring extensive knowledge and experience in systems administration, particularly in Windows, Oracle, SQL, Microsoft Hyper-V, PowerShell scripting, and Linux servers. The Senior System Administrator will be responsible for managing virtual machines, failover clusters, storage arrays, and backup technologies, while ensuring adherence to industry best practices and security standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure and tune systems, including Windows, Oracle, SQL, Microsoft Hyper-V, PowerShell scripting, and Linux servers, for NPS Data Centers.
- Provide expertise in enterprise SQL and Oracle database systems, covering failover clustering, storage management, patch management, user permission security, and instance creation.
- Support system administration across production, disaster recovery, test, and development environments.
- Create and implement scripts for Hyper-V, failover cluster, Windows server, and Unix/Linux/Ubuntu administration in an enterprise environment.
- Manage virtual machines, including creation, configuration, maintenance, and automation in a failover cluster environment.
- Plan, configure, and maintain hyper-converged infrastructure according to manufacturer and industry best practices.
- Assist in Tier 1/2/3 support issues and provide technical expertise and assistance with planning and implementing new technologies.
- Create and maintain documentation for system processes, configurations, Service Level Agreements, continuity of operations, and disaster recovery plans.
- Configure and maintain Dell SAN arrays, Windows servers, Linux servers, and Oracle hardware and software in accordance with vendor best practices.
- Implement and maintain backup technologies, including backup software, LTO tape libraries, backup to disks, and backup to cloud integration.
- Provide in-depth knowledge of cloud technology, design, implementation, and remote management.
- Assist with the implementation of defined security controls and assess outcomes of vulnerability scanning.
- Perform access rights management, user account management, and periodic administrative tasks as defined in the NPS Access Control Policy and Procedures.
- Assess security implications of new system or application requirements.
- Perform patch management, vulnerability mitigation, and routine backups for failover SQL clusters.
- Perform instance creation/modifications and user management for SQL clusters.
- Design, configure, implement, and maintain failover SQL cluster hardware and software configurations per manufacturer and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred, Associate Degree minimum.
- 8 or more years of related technical experience in supporting Information Technology environment at the server/data center level.
- 8 or more years of experience in Systems administration, with:
- Expertise in Windows server.
- Expertise in Oracle server.
- Expertise in SQL server
- Expertise in Linux server.
- Expertise in Microsoft Hyper-V
- Expertise in PowerShell scripting
- Support may include (but not limited to):
- Backup and recovery of Data Operations Center (DOC), systems, patching of systems, providing Tier II/III support to lower tiers, performance tuning, hardware and software upgrades, operational configurations, resource optimization, etc.
- Ability to support Microsoft and Linux Operating systems.
- Knowledge of other Microsoft Products used to manage an enterprise operation.
- Knowledge of VMWare.
- Experience in industry standard data center physical security tools and applications.
- Knowledge of DCIM and tools used. Basic knowledge of Visual Basic, .NET, C#, PowerShell and other programming/scripting languages.
- Ability to develop project management documentation.
- Excellent interdepartmental communication skill (written, verbal, presentations).
- Ability to work without guidance and the ability to resolve highly complex problems.
- Ability to lead projects.
- Serves as SME for a Shared Services Enterprise Datacenter information technology projects.
- U.S. CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED to support our Federal client **NO EXCEPTIONS**
- Must be able to obtain and maintain U.S. Government Clearance
