Job description

Tactical execution of HSSE requirements. Periodically exercising independent discretion and independent judgment. This includes responding to incidents, documentation, processes, keeping analytics up to date, entering data into spreadsheets and databases. Utilizing Lean methodologies as part of independent work.

Key Responsibilities

• Exercise independent judgment to recognize and identify HSSE risk. Communicate risk and act upon issues within your scope of authority independently.
• Address HSSE risks that present themselves during the shift; follow up to completion of mitigations.
• Respond to incidents and HSSE concerns.
• Approve and be engaged with HSSE processes such as risk assessment, permit to work, incident investigation, confined space entry, PPE compliance and management of change, etc.
• Control of contractors: define contractors scope of work, risks of the activity, informing contractors of risks, issue PTW for the contractor.
• Write reports related to HSSE based on available data and conditions.
• Use lean methodologies to improve processes.
• Enter HSSE and data into corporate databases and Microsoft suite programs.
• Perform site inspections and gemba under general direction using pre-determined criteria.
• Ensure HSSE follows APMT Way of Work and become facilitator for HSSE problem solving.
• Coordinate HSSE vendors as required
• Coordinate and direct security staff as required.
• Support in development and review of HSSE Plan, Crisis Management Plan, Business Continuity Plan

- APMT ELZ and corporate HSSE support staff

Primary external stakeholders

- Interface with Agencies, Port Police, Port Authorities, industry groups ​

Required experience & skills

• 2-3 years experience in HSSE
• Proficient in the written word, developing presentation and analysing data
• Computer skills: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Sharepoint, & Access databases.
• Background in HSSE regulations and management is highly desirable.

Expected Working Hours

This position generally requires availability for a 40 hour work week- 3 pm EST - 11 PM EST. Terminal operations are 24/7 and must be available to respond to emergencies or off-hours projects. Early or late hours and weekend work occurs periodically.
