Most of the time, the work environment is a pleasant, temperature controlled, professional office environment in a manufacturing setting. Personal workstation maybe located on 2nd floor. The employee works in the office but does have frequent interaction with personnel on the shop floor. The employee may also be required to travel occasionally to work in customers plants reviewing new applications or on the installation, start-up and commissioning of company products. In plants, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is mixed but does not require hearing protection in most areas.

What You Will Be Doing

SUMMARY: Develop or redesign new or existing company products. Work from order requirements or other specifications and arrive at final design details utilizing CAD software and engineering calculations as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design company products using SolidWorks or other engineering software
Create engineering drawings for use in proposals and manufacturing
Create bills of material and routings for use in cost estimates and manufacturing
Create owners manuals, test procedures, and other engineering deliverables as required
Perform engineering computations for sizing equipment components
Provide technical support to shop personnel during manufacturing
Provide field support of company products as required
Perform Lead Engineer role for assigned sales orders including customer interaction, vendor communication, and project management as required
Work independently
Other duties may be assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no direct supervisory responsibility although individuals in this position may be required to provide direction to CAD Designers who are supporting the assigned work.

What You Need for this Position

QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledgeable about one or more company products
Proficient with SolidWorks CAD software
Ability to provide leadership as is required to perform Lead Engineer role
Ability to perform fundamental engineering calculations employing software or by hand
Ability to team with other engineering, sales and production personnel to meet customers needs
Experience in Parcel/Distribution/E-Commerce conveyor system and equipment design is preferred
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in engineering field and 5 years relative experience
Associate Degree in engineering field and 5 years relative experience
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings / electrical schematics
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Proficient in algebra and geometry as is required to solve engineering problems
COMPUTER SKILLS:
SolidWorks experience in detailing and designing preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. Employee spends some time on shop floor. The majority of the time will be spent sitting in front of a computer and use of the phone.
