Supervisor (Mechanical Trade) NDT
IMOS Contract
- RNAS CuldroseFull Time, 38 Hours per week, Permanent£48,000 per annum increasing to £49,000 following 3 month probation
Serco are proud to support the IMOS (Integrated Merlin Operational Support) at Royal Navy Air Station Culdrose, that delivers services ranging from the repair and maintenance of Military aircraft
- and off aircraft support services. Culdrose is one of the Navy`s two principal air bases, and one of the busiest military airfields in the UK.We have an exciting oppprtiunity for a Supervisor (Mechanical) in the Merlin Depth Maintenance Facility (MDMF), Integrated Merlin Operational Support (IMOS) Contract to be based at RNAS Culdrose located in Helston.
Key Accountabilities:

- Where required by Customer Regulations and Procedures employees are authorised to carry out contracted tasks.
- All contracted tasks are carried out in accordance with current Customer Policy and Regulations and other applicable statutory Regulations.
- Contracted tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- The Senior Supervisor and Serco Support Manager is made aware of all business risks.
- All verbal and written customer complaints and Quality issues are brought to the attention of the Senior Supervisor and Serco Support Manager.
- The Senior Supervisor and Serco Support Manager are informed when regulatory, continuation, induction, human factors, promotion, on–job and new equipment training is required for any Fitters/Fitters Mates and Apprentices that are direct reports.
- Other tasks within their capability are carried out as directed by the Senior Supervisor and Serco Support Manager.
- Administration tasks are carried out as required by the Senior Supervisor or Serco Support Manager.
- Ensuring best practice and assurance of regulatory compliance by the utilisation of DASOR, Assure and any other reporting medium to capture and communicate findings and actions from engineering, safety and near miss events.
- Monitoring hazards and ensuring risks, and issues are identified and quantified
- They participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives and associated programmes when required.
- When deemed as qualified by the Serco Support Manager to do so and when requested, Fitters/Fitters Mates and Apprentices are trained/mentored as a supporting task of the job requirement and/or their development.
- To remain flexible and carry out any other tasks within their capabilities and experience in support of the Contract as directed by the Contract Manager or their representative.
- To promote Serco’s professional Company image in all liaisons with internal and external agencies.

What you need to do the job

- Attained a Service Certificate of Competency (CofC) or successfully completed a local Serco Supervisory Management and Aircraft Documentation Course and CofC Board
- Must have at least 6 months experience in an airworthiness environment in the last 2 years
- Attained an NDT Level 2 qualification and be conversant with the following techniques: Dye Penetrant/ Eddy Current/ Percussion (Tap test)/ Ultrasonic/ Dichloromethane (DCM) paint removal
- Previous supervisory experience and a thorough and good working knowledge of the following:
- Merlin Aircraft Engineering and Aircraft Systems (by Trade)
- desirable
- Merlin Aircraft Servicing and Support Equipment
- desirable
- Lean Operating Procedures
- Naval Air Publications and Compound Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (C-IETP) and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) repair instructions
- Health and Safety, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations, Tool Control and Quality Practices.
- Engineering and Asset Management Systems such as GOLDesp
- Completed a Maintenance Human Factors Course.
- Have a thorough understanding of rotary wing military (aviation) procedures.
- An understanding and proven experience of Airworthiness Engineering Safety and Compliance iaw Regulatory and Legislative requirements (MAA).
