R&T Procurement Officer - 6 Months (Inside IR35)

Job description

Safran Engineering Services UK Limited is seeking a highly motivated and experienced R&T Procurement Officer to join our team. This role is responsible for managing the procurement activities of Research and Technology projects within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and facilitate R&T sourcing activity, aligning core commodity strategies with supplier selection.
• Coordinate and manage R&T programs at the site, building robust and solid relationships with high quality vendors and suppliers.
• Ensure design evolutions synchronise with from initial concept through to new product introduction phases.
• Create, conduct and close RFQ / RFP Packages with Selected Supplier Choice panels
• Manage deliveries of Purchase orders, communicate weekly clear to build status to program team and work with suppliers to ensure any deviations and technical issues are captured, agreed with stake holders such as engineering and programs teams
• Work with Supplier Account Manager and Commodity Manager to negotiate prices, terms, conditions and agreements.
• Follow a robust design-to-cost methodology, challenging design requirements to ensure they correspond with program and product roadmaps.
• Escalate, when appropriate, any significant issues that require management intervention or awareness.
• Work with suppliers to resolve any issues impacting performance, such as quality discrepancies.
• Coordinate with the purchasing teams and vendors to enable robust and efficient supply chains.
• Report and present program reviews to various stakeholders
• Risk Analysis – Identification and resolution of supply issues in order to meet business commitments

• Support make/buy studies.
• Supplier database for R&T projects.

• Programs overviews/roadmaps
• Carry out procurement related activities to meet milestones for R&T programmes as per the individual programme plans

Requirements

• We are looking for candidates with a range of skills and experience, but we’re also keen to help people grow and develop in this role. If you have some or all of the following, we’d love to hear from you:
• Purchasing or sourcing experience within a manufacturing or aerospace environment beneficial. An awareness of low volume sourcing would be very preferable
• Demonstrable productive influencing capabilities, which can be applied within an engineering, design or manufacturing environment.
• Astute commercial awareness.
• Versatility in dealing with different cultures and across different time zones.
• Experience liaising with suppliers and customers, with a background in negotiating.
• Experience with data visualisation and presentations.
• Strong interpersonal skills – ability to work with individuals across a range of functions and varying seniority
• Good PC skills, confident with use of MRP system (SAP) and Microsoft Office (Excel & PowerPoint)
