Senior UK Operations Manager - International Road Freight (FTL & LTL)

Bradford

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Operations Manager to manage our busy road freight operations, with a focus on both full and part trailer loads.The successful candidate will play a pivotal role managing the FTL and LTL international road freight operations including people management, managing fleet assets, pricing, cost management, vehicle utilisation and enhancing overall efficiency in the transportation network.

What will you be doing?

• Oversee end-to-end operations, including planning, scheduling, and execution of international road freight activities for UK & IE
• Optimise route planning, load consolidation, and resource allocation to ensure cost-effectiveness and timely deliveries.
• Stay abreast of international transport regulations, customs procedures, and trade compliance requirements for the UK and Ireland.
• Implement and enforce compliance protocols to mitigate legal and regulatory risks.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, negotiating contracts and service level agreements.
• Evaluate and onboard new vendors, ensuring they align with company standards.
• Lead and mentor a team (including Drivers), fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.

About You

• Proven experience managing international road freight operations, knowledge of the Irish market highly beneficial
• In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations, customs and incoterms
• Experienced in managing both owned assets and sub-contractors.
• Commercially focussed with experience in pricing, cost management and analytics
• Effective leadership and team management skills. (Driver management experience)
• Change management experience
• Effective communication and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in relevant software and transport management systems.
