About Our Client
Our client is a world-leading in-house manufacturing business who turnover in excess of £550m+ with a 9% YoY growth! The business export manufactured finished goods across the world through a mixture of sea, air and road freight. These goods are carried by third party carriers across various INCOTerms.
Job Description
As an Shipping Controller you will be employed at the Coventry Head Office and Report into the on-site Shipping Manager. Dependent on your experience you could be managing a small team of 2x Co-ordinator, mixing a commercial & operational workload. You will work a mixture of office and home working. You will also be responsible for the following areas:
- Coordination of all sea, air & road import and export logistics and monitoring process
- To manage the freight operation from receipt of customer bookings and arranging collections to booking cargo with carriers.
- Provide analysis of freight carriers across a network of around 600 providers, based on cost, pricing and service levels.
- To request and gather quotations from suppliers in a timely and efficient manner.
- Managing customs entries from USA, EU and the rest of the world, implementing procedures for inbound/outbound shipping.
- Liaising with the company's in-house department/s regarding incoming shipments in order to apply for customs entry in good time.
- Provide knowledge of customs clearance for specific variations on company's imports from USA, EU and the rest of the world.
The Successful Applicant
The successful Shipping Controller will have a large background in either road, sea or air freight operations over the last 3+ years and ideally come from a mixture of an operational / commercial background.
- 2+ years experience in International Shipping or Freight.
- Experienced with air, sea or road freight.
- Commutable to Coventry on a hybrid basis.
- Experienced with planning, pricing, quoting different methods of shipping.
- A team player
- Commercial, as well as operational, acumen.
