My client is world class distribution business with products that clients need that can be used in a variety of different routes to market. They work with major well-known brands throughout the UK.
The company has seen amazing year-on-year growth over the last 10 years and has big plans.
We are looking for a reliable Buyer to join our busy buying department.
This position is vital to the team to assist with the smooth running of daily operations and reporting directly to the Senior Buyer.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain good working relationships with new and existing suppliers.
- Have a thorough understanding of procurement administration duties and product maintenance.
- Negotiate with multiple suppliers to maximise cost saving, quality, and service.
- Engage with the business to identify requirements, create purchase requests and seek approvals as appropriate.
- Working with internal teams to ensure supplier deliveries are in line with company procedures.
- Prepare procurement reports as required.
- Understand the process of importing products.
- Responsible for depot inventory of products and ensuring stock levels are adequately maintained by placing orders accordingly.
- Assist with internal/external communications and meetings.
- Develop strong relationships with depots by regular communication and depot visits to access stocks, including assisting with depot stock takes across the company where required.
- Ability to train new people within the team, once a good understanding of the processes has been achieved.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the forecast system.
- Adapt to changes required in relation to the business needs.
Required Skills
- Ability to work within a small team, under pressure and at speed.
- Computer skills and knowledge of Outlook and Excel
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Previous experience in a similar role or a role which includes the above duties.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes and procedures.
- The ability to effectively manage internal and external relationships.
- Highly numerate and problem-solving mindset.
- Well organised, self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
- The ability to influence at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Good sense of humour
- Forecast systems.
- To ideally have construction industry experience.
