Job description

Priory Adult Care is the UK’s leading independent provider of specialist adult care services. Our aim is to provide the right support in the right home for all the individuals we accommodate. With community-based residential care settings, as well as a network of supported living services, we support adults over the age of 18 with autism, dementia, learning disabilities, mental health conditions, Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) and behaviours that challenge. We also offer a range of residential and nursing care settings for older people with varying levels of need. Job Advert Location Description Newstead House is a specialist residential service for adults who have Autism and Learning Difficulties. We are looking to recruit Support Workers who share our values and are committed to supporting our residents to live their best life. 
Experience within the field may be useful but our priority is to find people with the right values, behaviours and attitudes that match our own.

Duties can be varied and two days may not be the same. We have 17 residents who have the most amazing personalities. Our residents are individuals and they all deserve to be treated as such. 
As a general guide duties will include support with personal care, daily living tasks, achieving outcomes in a way those we support choose.
Communication and personal interaction is a key feature of the role and includes the provision of support to people who may use behaviours that challenge as a way to communicate their needs and frustrations. The role therefore include willingness to learn understanding of our resident’s unique communication which may include pictures and signing systems and understanding of their sensory, emotional and environmental needs.
You will be expected to complete daily electronic records including updating support plans, daily notes, medication administration in accordance with policy and procedure, handling of petty cash and client funds and ensure the accuracy, security and confidentiality of service user records.
You will value and respect the environment as the resident’s home and have responsibility for equipment and consumables at site.
