Job description
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented professional to lead the Psychology Department at St Helen’s. Psychology is a very popular Sixth Form subject and is also one of the subjects taught jointly with Abingdon School. The postholder will, thus, be responsible for the development and stewardship of the subject to a cohort of students and staff across the two schools.
The Head of Psychology is a full-time position, starting in September 2024, teaching Sixth Form. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong leadership and management skills, extensive academic subject knowledge and be an enthusiastic advocate for their subject. The ability to inspire and motivate pupils and staff is essential.
All teaching staff are expected to contribute to the pastoral and enrichment programmes of the School. In addition to teaching, the post holder will also have pastoral responsibilities within their allocated year group. All staff share the responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the students, in accordance with the School’s Safeguarding policies.
