At our Dartford site (CMT) our mission is to be the industry choice for high potent, high value API micronization. Today, we supply ~40 micronized product to a wide range of customers and patients. Every one of our employees is to be engaged and involved in the change programme and we are now looking to recruit a Continuous Improvement Lead to join the team and help facilitate this transformation.
As a CI lead you will be responsible for the deployment of a lean methodology and a continuous improvement culture at the site (‘The Catalent Way” - TCW), including representing the site at cross site Global CI forums. You will be lead cross functional teams and facilitate multiple change activities at Catalent Dartford in line with site objectives and priorities. You will deliver this effectively and efficiently in a highly regulated environment and to defined standards on safety and cGMP. Experienced in change and project management you will set and deliver against priorities and timelines.
The role:
- To facilitate and drive achievement of site and functional targets through the deployment of TCW / continuous improvement methodology (e.g., Gemba, problem solving, operator standard work, visual management, tiered meetings, leader standard work, 5S, Zoning, process controls, & process confirmation, etc)
- To identify, design and implement both tactical and strategic step-change improvement initiatives which deliver competitive advantage to CMTL and are aligned to site objectives and priorities (i.e., safety, quality, cost, delivery and people (SQCDP))
- You will provide leadership and development of matrix teams, coaching continuous improvement so that individuals and teams achieve their potential. This will include lean 6 sigma upskilling (white - yellow - green belt).
- To spend ~30% of their time on the shop floor with teams establishing a culture of continuous improvement and unrelenting pursuit of performance excellence by:
- To raise performance levels by establishing improvement processes - raising the capability of teams by focusing on process: stabilising, standardising, & improving; exposing problems, eliminating them & repeating the cycle over & over
- To teach, coach and mentor the team in TCW / CI / lean management principles and practice
- To represent CMT on central TCW and technology forums, sharing best practices and improving cross site collaboration
- To act as the operations/CMT representative for project activity, providing user requirements, managing deliverables, and liaise directly with project managers, functions and stakeholders.
- To plan, execute, track and control a programme of improvements within the work area in line with the strategic plan for CMT, including facilitating effective collaboration with a wide range of teams/functions
- To lead and ensure EHS&S standards are in place in use for the area and team · To systematically reduce risks to employees, products and the environment through risk assessment, rigorous problem solving and establishing robust and effective CAPA
- To lead and ensure quality and compliance standards (cGMP and Quality Management System) are in place in use for the area and team, maintaining continual ‘inspection readiness’. ·
- To systematically reduce compliance and patient risk through proactive risk assessment, rigorous problem solving and establishing robust and effective CAPA – demonstrating ongoing reduction in deviations
- To lead and ensure that governance processes in the area are robust and supported · To execute the agreed financial plan for the area, demonstrating rigour, initiative and persistence in reducing waste and variation in all processes
- To contribute to the strategic planning for the operations area and CMTL site · To deputise for the Operations Director and Operations Team Managers where necessary.
The candidate:
- Educated to degree level (Scientific, Manufacturing, Engineering) or equivalent relevant experience. Role requires technical understanding, advanced problem solving and solution development skills
- Demonstrated expertise in delivering step change improvement within an operational environment through Lean Leadership/ Lean 6 Sigma/ Operational Excellence methodologies.
- Knowledge & demonstrated expertise in Root Cause Problem solving, Project management and Change Management
- Knowledge & Experience of EHS, cGMP, cGDP and QMS is essential.
- Certified lean 6 sigma green belt minimum standard
- Previous line management experience within manufacturing or support is preferred.
- Budgeting experience / financial awareness is desirable
- You should have significant experience of delivering performance improvement and driving change within a regulated GMP environment. The environment is performance driven and requires the ability to prioritize effectively across diverse and competing customer needs, maintaining team motivation and output.
