Head of Programme (Challenger 3) - Telford

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

RBSL has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Programmes on the Challenger 3 Programme. The successful incumbent will oversee and manage the delivery of the project and be the focal point of contact for internal Management and External stakeholders.

The role will report directly into the Challenger 3 Project Director and will be responsible for managing the delivery and performance of a cross-functional team. You will manage and deliver the Project Controls for the Programme, ensuring that the projects within the Programme deliver to the Integrated Schedule to time, cost and quality.

You will work closely with the wider PM Function to ensure that PM SQEP and forward demand of resource (multifunctional) is understood and included in the sales & operational planning for the business.

You will ensure that LCM and appropriate assurance and governance is in place, and deliver a number of large capability deliver projects within the portfolio of the programme e.g. Epsom and APS and ensure coherence to the integrated schedule.

You will mange several Key Stakeholders such as the Challenger 3 Project Director & RBSL leadership team; Parent Companies and Stakeholders; The Customer - DE&S & Army HQ delivery teams; and the Chief Engineer and engineering managers.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

• Extensive experience in Project Management and managing major design, concept, manufacture and production programmes
• Extensive experience in managing senior stakeholders within the UK defence environment
• Extensive experience in delivering major Government or Defence programmes
• Extensive experience of leading cross-functional teams
• Extensive experience of making decisions to manage and mitigate project risk
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and presentational
• Extensive understanding of the challenges of complex engineering projects or defence programmes
• Strong commitment, self-motivation and the ability to motivate other people and teams
• Ability to coach / mentor and develop staff
• Customer focused and experienced at dealing with customers and other stakeholders nationally and internationally.
