Job description

Exeter School is the leading co-educational day school in the Southwest, educating over 1,000 pupils aged 3-18. We are looking to appoint a Science Team Leader to join our school, a school of great character, from September 2024.

We seek an inspirational and ambitious leader and teacher of biology, chemistry, electronics, physics or psychology to lead the science subject team. The subject team leader will be a lead practitioner in their subject, with the role being a stepping stone leadership post for applicants who are ambitious for senior leadership roles in the future. This is a new post within the middle leadership structure of the school. Subject team leaders will maintain an overview of the subjects within their teams, work to share best practice and promote collaboration between subjects within their teams, line manage the heads of department within their teams and look to centralise and support some of the planning and administrative load. In addition to sport, there are five subject teams across the school. Please see the and person specification for more detail on the role of the team leader.

This post is advertised separately on TES, with the same closing date, and you can only apply for the Science Team Leader role if you are also applying for the Head of Chemistry role. Please indicate in the “position applied for” section on page one of the application for the Head of Chemistry role if you wish to apply for both roles. A separate application is not required but your application and supporting statement should reflect how your skills, knowledge and experience match both roles.

The closing date for applications is Thursday 21 March at 9 am , and early applications are encouraged. We anticipate that interviews will be held on Tuesday 26 March.
