New Graduate Veterinary Surgeon - Penrith

A wonderful opportunity has arisen for a New Graduate Veterinary Surgeon at an independent mixed animal practice in picturesque Penrith in Cumbria. Located just 6 miles from Lake Ullswater and easy motorway access North and South to 5 international airports, this is an ideal location for commuting.

Our client has been an established independent practice in the area for nearly 120 years and is committed to providing high quality medical and surgical care to all its patients and clients alike. They are looking for an enthusiastic and hard working individual to join their team on a full time basis. The role is a mix of approximately 90% farm animal and 10 % small animal, with farm animal being a good mix of dairy, beef and sheep (no equine).

You will be part of a 6 vet team (5 large animal vets and 1 small animal vet) and will be supported by a clinical director, a practice manager, 2 nurses and a dedicated reception team.

The practice is RCVS accredited and is well-equipped with an in-house laboratory, a fully equipped operating theatre, digital x-ray, ultrasound and much more. The focus of the practice is on preventative health in both herd/flock health and domestic pets. Regular routine dairy visits are carried out and encouraged.

The ideal candidate will need to be enthusiastic and motivated and have a genuine interest in mixed animal welfare. You will be mentored by 3 qualified Vet GDP's who will support you through your first year in practice. As your career progresses, your desire to pursue professional development and postgraduate qualifications would be fully supported and funded.

The Rota:
• Full time - 4 day working week
• 1 long weekend off in 5
• 2 in 5 OOH rota (the weekend on call duties are shared between the 2 vets on call)
• Always 2 vets on call, meaning you are always fully supported
