They are currently seeking a QA Technician to work night shifts on a permanent basis.

REQUIREMENTS

To excel in the role of QA Technician, you should have experience in working within and managing a team in a food manufacturing environment, especially in a fast-paced setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and IT software, including data trending and graph generation, as well as pivot table creation, is essential. You should possess effective planning and prioritization skills, lead by example, demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, and understand the importance of delivering exceptional customer service both internally and externally. Consistent application of hygiene and quality standards, efficient time and workload management, flexibility in roles and working hours to meet business needs, and key competencies such as self-motivation, strong communication, objective management, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to work well under pressure are all important. Desirable qualifications include food safety to Level 4, HACCP to Level 3 with a good understanding of microbiology, and experience as an internal auditor.

THE ROLE

As the QA Technician, your main responsibilities will revolve around ensuring compliance with the HACCP & Quality Management systems, good manufacturing practice (GMP), product quality assurance, food safety, hygiene standards, and traceability. You’ll play a crucial role in promoting a QA culture throughout the business by working closely with the manufacturing team. Your role also involves motivating, training, coaching, and developing production operatives into a cohesive team that actively suggests improvement initiatives. You’ll assess manufacturing operative performance, manage any shortfalls, and support QA supervisors and the senior technical management team with BRCGS certification and maintenance. Additionally, you’ll be directly involved in customer and third-party schemes, from site preparation to implementing corrective actions and root cause analysis. Continuous quality improvement through ongoing QA assessments, compliance with standards and procedures, and participation in QA panels are also key aspects of your role. Daily, you’ll ensure high standards of GMP and system compliance throughout the factory, collaborating closely with key personnel to address non-compliance issues and escalate and record them as necessary. You’ll also contribute significantly to HACCP compliance, assess raw material intake, and trend all quality and compliance-related activities. Regular circulation and discussion of this information in relevant forums, as well as the development of corrective action plans, will be part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you’ll be part of the Critical Incident Management Team and will validate and verify product compliance, safety, and legality. Daily paperwork review, legal process checks, and the collection and submission of microbiological and environmental samples will also fall under your purview. You’ll actively promote the site’s food safety culture and adhere to relevant company policies and procedures, while also assisting with any other reasonable duties assigned by your line manager or senior management to support business operations.
