We have six fixed term positions up to March 2025 in our Community and Pathway teams providing advice and support to both new and existing tenants who are struggling to live independently and sustain a successful tenancy. The post holder will provide a comprehensive, high quality support service to customers across the city. As a Support & Progression Worker (SPW) you will provide housing related support to vulnerable people on a one-to-one basis. This includes providing practical support to access, set up and sustain a tenancy, help with access to welfare benefits, assistance with debt issues, help customers to maintain independent living, become a successful part of their community and look at future aspirations.
The Person:
Show emotional intelligence in dealing with the multiple needs of customers. Passionate about working with vulnerable customers to improve their lives. Have good IT skills and be diplomatic, assertive, and able to work collaboratively with a wide range of groups to achieve best practice outcomes for customers. Ability to support customers who might struggle to regulate their emotions and engage with services through an understanding of psychological and trauma informed approaches. Work flexibly across the City, including carrying out home visits. Ability to ensure customers are safe by adhering to safeguarding procedures, relevant legislation, and policies, taking a multi-agency approach.
At YHN we are committed to being a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) that prioritises its relationships with customers and invests in staff learning and development. We are in the process of rolling out a comprehensive workforce development plan in partnership with Aneemo a national leader in PIE and trauma informed practice with more than 350 frontline staff and managers being enrolled. PIE provides a framework for us to all use that determines our language and approach when communicating and engaging with customers, building on the good practice that already exists within our housing and support services.
