A Vacancy at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
This post focuses on the implementation of preceptorship for newly qualified practitioners, as well as overseas nurses, and is central to the delivery of clinical based support, education and training. The post holder will provide effective leadership and management to ensure development of high quality preceptorship programme. The post holder will be required to work clinically supporting the newly qualified in adult inpatient areas to ensure that these nurses are assessed in clinical competencies to ensure delivery of safe care. *You must have a valid UK NMC PIN to apply for this role* The post holder will act as a role model, promoting quality evidence based practice, To lead on the recruitment and support of newly qualified practitioners (nursing and midwifery) on to the multi professional preceptorship programme. To provide and receive complex information on preceptorship and use persuasive, motivational and negotiating skills with managers and Heads of Nursing and Midwifery to enhance preceptorship for staff. To communicate educational and practice information within the NHS and undertake presentations to large groups of preceptee and preceptors. Contribute to sustaining a continued improvement in turnover rates of Band 5 Nurses. To establish and maintain systems for monitoring, reviewing and reporting on the quality of the preceptorship programme. To establish credibility and confidence amongst clinicians, managers and other stakeholders in relation to preceptorship. To establish effective communication with Non-Medical Education Team and preceptorship steering group and undergraduate education leads to promote preceptorship with undergraduates as a strategy to support recruitment and retention. Monitor Key performance indicators and report progress. Support Preceptors in assessing the clinical capability of preceptees. Support the Lead Nurse for Workforce and Education in the implementation of preceptorship policy and HEE standards across the Trust. The successful candidates will be required to support the delivery of a range of training packages relevant to Preceptorship for newly qualified Nursing, Midwifery and AHP registrants, including OSCE nurses, Nursing Associates, or other apprentices with professional qualifications.
