Do you want to join a truly unique residential service who specialise supporting young people with EBD (Emotional Behavioural Difficulties) on a 2 to 1 basis?
I have a FANTASTIC opportunity for a PASSIONATE and RESILIENT individual to join a residential service in Okehampton, as a Children's Support Worker.
The service tailor the care & support they provide, prioritising the needs and wants of their young people. You will motivate young people to take ownership of their own lives whilst encouraging their learning and development.
**Due to the nature of the job and the activities involved, we are only able to consider applicants who have a full driver's licence**
Job Title: Children's Support Worker
Salary: £26,426 - £28,275 (sleep allowance included)
Location: Okehampton (EX20 Postcode)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift pattern: 2 on 4 off
Contract: Permanent

Responsibilities:
- To encourage the young people to do activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age.
- To keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.
- To be able to deal with challenging behaviours when needed.
- Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
- Provide support for the children and young people in the home and to promote their independence and well-being.
- Ensuring the safety of the young people and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's; care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication.
- Supporting taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals that may be involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists.
- Organise and participate activities and holidays, ensuring risk assessments have been followed.
Requirements:
- A vocation to support children and young people who have suffered trauma, and an appreciation of the needs of children and young people with SEND and SEMHD ESSENTIAL
- You must hold a Full UK Manual Driving Licence as you'll be required to transport young people from time to time ESSENTIAL
- First aid certification or willingness to complete ESSENTIAL
- Experience working with Young People who display challenging behaviours DESIRABLE
- Already completed Level 3 NVQ in Children and Young People DESIRABLE
