About the role:

Due to an internal promotion and development, we have an opportunity at our Scunthorpe site for an experienced Controls Engineer! We’re looking for a self-motivated, experienced Controls Engineer with experience working in automation to come and join our dynamic engineering team.

You’ll have primary responsibility for all things PLC, including fault-finding and programming. You’ll also be heavily involved in the planning and execution of projects to replace obsolete PLC systems whilst playing a key role in the enhancement of our automation processes ensuring efficiency, safety and reliability.

What a typical day will look like:

• Developing and implementing PLC programs to control automation systems
• Conduct thorough diagnostics to identify and resolve PLC related issues
• Lead projects to facilitate the replacement of obsolete PLC systems coordinating with engineering and production to reduce downtime and minimise any issues
• Proactively identify opportunities for automation improvements

What will need from you?

• A HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Automation or related field
• Demonstrable knowledge of PLC systems, ideally Allen Bradley and Mitsubishi
• Ideally experience in project management and executing automation projects from concept to completion
• Experience of working within a food manufacturing/FMCG environment would be an advantage but isn’t essential
• A good understanding of industrial automation protocols and communication interfaces would be a huge advantage

This role will operate from Monday – Friday, core hours, but there may be times when you will be required to support the team outside of your normal working hours.

We’ll provide you with all the tools to learn, develop the role and yourself and will support with additional training needs where required.
