Job description

Are you looking for your next career step? Do you want the opportunity to work on a broad range of projects, utilising your GIS and environmental knowledge to help support our clients through the EIA and consenting process? This role will provide you with this opportunity whilst working within a market leading environmental consultancy team.

About Our Environment Advisory Group:

Our Environment Group has been providing environmental solutions for our clients for over 30 years in the UK. We offer a comprehensive range of environmental services to support all sizes and types of development and our GIS team is integral to this. From high profile infrastructure projects such as large offshore wind farms and port developments, to carbon management, climate resilience, locally-driven habitat enhancement and wider biodiversity net gain projects. We combine market-leading technical excellence, across the range of environmental disciplines, with a clear understanding of clients’ ambitions, needs and pressures.

We specialise in consenting, permitting and licencing support for complex infrastructure developments and operations. We have successfully supported our clients in delivering sustainable projects in sectors including energy, industry, marine development and catchment management.

Due to continued growth in a variety of markets including offshore wind and in the water sector we have an opportunity for a Senior Geospatial Consultant to join our expanding GIS team.

Job Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, optimistic, conscientious and talented person with excellent communication skills and technical ability in relation to Geographical Information Systems, data management and analytics who can apply these in an environmental context. In this role, you will apply these skills across a variety of projects, supporting colleagues across the Environment Group with tasks such as site selection, marine spatial planning, constraint mapping and figure production for environmental reports.

As part of the role, you will be assigned the GIS lead on some of our large-scale projects which will include the review and preparation of data standards documents, coordination of all data related activities during the project start-up phase and playing a key part in client and stakeholder engagement throughout the project. You will also be involved in developing some of our key geospatial services to support our clients and discipline leads.

Utilising advanced spatial analysis tools and creating online applications within the ArcGIS online environment will be required alongside producing high quality visualisations and other digital deliverables. You will also be required to coordinate digital data capture for field surveys. Experience of developing scripts and automation tools within GIS would be preferred for this role.
