This is a national role with extensive travel throughout the UK including monthly meetings in the London office.

Please note this role requires the successful candidate to live in the UK and have the right to work in the UK. Visa or relocation support are not available for this role.

About the role:
We are hiring a Field Medical Leader to join our UK Haematology Therapy Area Medical Team due to an internal promotion.

This highly visible role will provide leadership to a high performing medical affairs team working in malignant and benign and malignant haematology. The successful candidate will work closely with the therapy area Medical Director, and with multiple cross-functional stakeholders.

As part of the TA Leadership team, the FML has a highly developed strategic expertise and is responsible for creating cohesive MSL field strategies across several disease areas, that support continuous field engagement. The FML leads the MSL team, to focus on activities for maximum scientific exchange and insight generation, identification of partnership opportunities and co-creation of educational and RWE solutions.
This role will allow you to work in a fast paced and highly stimulating environment to touch the lives of millions of patients and make a real impact.

Key responsibilities:
• Day-to-day leadership and management of the national Haematology MSL team (5 MSLs)
• Developing optimised Field Medical strategies in alignment with broader medical and cross-functional business strategies
• Deputising for the Medical TA Director, leading complex enterprise projects, and representing the Therapy Area MSL team at Franchise, UK, Regional and Global meetings
• Harnessing relationships and networks, when appropriate, to generate deep insight into customer needs,
• Supporting the identification and implementation of external partnerships that enable optimal patient diagnosis, management and outcomes
• Providing regular coaching, mentorship and field-based training for MSLs
• Driving field medical excellence strategies across the MSL team
• Ensuring MSLs appropriately identify and map external stakeholders and create/implement personalized, flexible engagement strategies

Role Requirements

Essential requirements:

• Significant experience as an MSL in the UK in at least one therapeutic area (ideally more than one) OR significant experience as team manager in the UK
• Ability to navigate a complex therapy area with multiple priorities and product lifecycles
• Experience of coaching and mentoring colleagues
• Experience of working effectively as an integral member of a high performing matrix team
• Strong business acumen, leadership skills, strategic, innovative, solution-oriented, and critical thinking with performance-focused drive
• Scientific/medical/pharmacy degree or equivalent medical/clinical/scientific experience
• Strong understanding of the UK healthcare system
• Strong understanding of the UK compliance and regulatory framework
• Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable requirements:
• Haematology or Oncology experience is highly desirable
• Previous field team management experience
• Launch experience
• Medical qualification, Pharmacy qualification, or Doctorate (PhD in scientific/medical background) or equivalent post-graduate degree in health/life sciences
