Job description

Bricklayers are trained artisans who play an important part in the construction sector. They construct and repair walls, arches, chimneys, and other structures out of bricks, concrete blocks, and other masonry materials.

Tasks required by this job includes:

To establish the layout, materials, and dimensions of the structures they will build, bricklayers must be able to interpret construction plans and drawings.

Mortar is a cement, sand, and water combination that holds the bricks together. Bricklayers must ensure that the mortar is strong and sticky by mixing it to the proper consistency.

Bricklayers meticulously lay bricks in a specified pattern, ensuring that each brick is level and plumb. They spread the mortar with trowels and tap the bricks into place.

Bricks must occasionally be chopped or curved to fit precise corners or openings. Bricklayers make accurate cuts with masonry saws and other tools.

Metal anchors and reinforcements may also be installed by bricklayers to increase the structure's strength and stability.
