MacKenzie King are excited to be recruiting a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Accountant to join an ambitious and growing business, based in Woolpit. As an FP&A Accountant you will be a highly motivated individual who strives to deliver value to the finance function and wider business by playing a critical role in enhancing their financial performance through strategic planning, insightful analysis, and fostering strong financial decision-making across various divisions. The role of FP&A Accountant is well suited to an individual looking for a hands-on opportunity to make a significant contribution in a key finance role, within an expanding and best-in-class organisation.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain enhanced reporting systems, including Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dashboards and weekly flash reports to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with budget holders to interpret and interrogate financial performance, documenting variances and discussing options to address financial implications.
- Confidently engage in business partnering with heads of departments, both financial and non-financial, to foster collaboration and informed financial decisions.
- Play a key role in the annual budgeting process, collaborating with each division to interrogate and challenge their financial performance and assisting in setting financial targets ensuring they are aligned with business objectives.
- Lead the quarterly reforecasting process providing reasons for any variances. Offer possible solutions to align the budget with targets.
- Advise, influence, and challenge budget holders to ensure financial decisions align with the company's strategic goals and objectives.
- Support the Directors and senior management in preparing business cases, including financial modelling to provide critical financial data to enable decision-making for new opportunities.
- Drive the commercial profitability of the business by providing clear and transparent performance insights through structured and impactful analysis.
- Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the performance of the finance function and implement best practices.
Qualifications and experience
- A qualified or part qualified finance professional with relevant experience in a forward thinking and fast paced business.
- An experienced and commercially focused Accountant who has proven ability to create management information to help the business grow and aid operational decisions.
- A flexible approach to their work with a good mix of initiative and teamwork and a “can do” attitude.
- Energy and drive to innovate rather than replicate.
- Proficiency in financial modelling, reporting, and forecasting.
- Advanced knowledge of financial software and tools such as Excel and Power BI are a necessity as we introduce new reporting models as well as strong numerical and analytical skills, together with an inquiring mind and the ability to dig into the detail.
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills with an ability to work collaboratively and influence decision-makers.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
