Job description
The post of Technical Assistant is based at the Metrology Centre where weights and measures regulatory and commercial business services are provided to industry on behalf of Redcar and Cleveland, Stockton and Middlesbrough Council.
This is a hands-on technical role working in our large calibration facility, handling a wide range of weights of all sizes. You will be refurbishing the test items in our workshop, then calibrating them using modern precision equipment in a clean room environment. We are looking to recruit a skilled technician who has experience working with tools and equipment in an industrial or workshop setting. Full training will be provided for use of equipment and the calibration procedure.
You will also help with the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Metrology Centre, be required to maintain an equipment database and have regular communication with our business customers and other partner organisations. This is a busy and rewarding role. The calibration work requires accuracy and concentration. You need to be able to carry out manual work, be flexible, organised and have an ability to work with care and attention to detail.
