* Nights - Sunday, Monday, Tuesday 6pm-6am (after 6 weeks rotates to Wednesday, Thursday, Friday for a further 6 weeks) *

We have been serving our customers out of our Selby site since 1914. We produce more than 160 million units per year across 600 different product lines for customers such as Morrisons, Tesco & Asda.
Pay rates (Over time is after 36 hours a week x1.25)
Night shift - £14.10 an hour (Rises to £13.76 once hit required skill level)
What you'll be doing
The Tube Operator will work across the specified area as part of the team, supporting activities involved in the improvement and maintenance of the tubular heat exchangers and associated equipment. The role requires the operator to solve problems and to liaise with the engineering/electrical department. The role requires a flexible attitude to deal with a variety of issues as they arise on the lines within the area. The key activities fall into five areas:
- Setting up the tubular heat exchangers ready for line start-up
- Monitoring and Improvement of processes
- Performing product changeovers (also caustic washouts where necessary)
- Management of metal detector reject waste
- Monitoring and maintenance of pigging systems
- Prior to line start-up: Return Pigging spheres to Launchers, ensure swing-bends and other pipe work are in correct position, adjust heat exchanger settings as per the parameters outlined in the relevant product specification sheet, through liaison with Sauce Cooking (upstairs) Coordinator, enable product to be brought to the line, ensure product is transferred, up to temperature and ready to fill by the specified line start-up time.
- Regular contact with Sauce Cooking Coordinator, to relay important messages concerning potential problems (waiting for brew, technical issues) which may affect line performance/yields.
- Performing Product changeovers. Recovery of product from the tubes, cleaning of tanks, transfer of the next product. All to be performed promptly, within the time specified on the Daily Plan or by the Area Process Leader.
- Performing Caustic washes of the tubes and associated holding tanks, when necessary, to ensure correct segregation of allergens (for example, when moving from a 'nut' to a 'non-nut' product.)
- Monitoring the cooking process(es), making necessary adjustments to achieve correct product temperature, and ensure the correct processes are adhered to.
- Responsible for completion of relevant documentation and sign off relating to product waste.
- Responsible for completion of checks relating to the performance of Pigging Systems.
- Assist the Area Process Leader to improve line efficiencies by means of interpretation of production plans through knowledge and understanding of product, equipment, planning and manning.
- Reduce down time and changeover time by changing and/or adjusting machinery parts as appropriate and to troubleshoot and resolve minor issues (mechanical or procedural). This includes the checking/changing of Pigging spheres and the maintenance of Launcher/Receiver carriages.
- Remain contactable and willing to return to the factory floor during break times, if required.
- Reporting of faults to engineering department using Mainsaver software.
- Assist in the training of operatives as necessary within your skills/knowledge parameters.
- Be involved in, and able to organise PSD's.
- Embrace new processes and be prepared to learn new skills in order to optimise the business, and to pass these skills on to others.
- Be involved in the implementation of 5S in work area.
- When required train and mentor individuals to enable them to reach the standard required to be signed off as a competent Tube Operator;
- Consider quality, health and safety issues and the implications at all times;
- Ensure that you work to "Right First Time" ethos;
- Trouble shoot and maintain efficiencies with mechanical and procedural understanding;
- Work along side QA;
- Completing data capture;
- Resolving minor issues, mechanical and procedural
What we're looking for
- Knowledge of Manufacturing processes and machinery would be advantageous;
- Numeracy and analytical ability to follow problem solving and production plans;
- The ability to liaise effectively with team members, supervisors and managers;
- Must be flexible with an eye for details and have excellent organisational skills.
- Using cleaning chemical (training can be given)
- HACCP knowledge (training can be given)
- Understanding of processes and product quality standards
