Job description

Join us as a Programme Officer and you'll work closely with the team to support the implementation of public health programmes aiming to improve the health of our local population. You will be working on the Physical Activity & Healthy Conversation Skills programme which supports a variety of physical activity-based interventions across Leicester and co-ordinates the delivery of local Healthy Conversation Skills training.

The team are usually based at City Hall; but you'll have the flexibility to work from home. This is a full-time, Fixed Term position for 18 months, working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday. On occasion you may be required to work evenings and weekends.

What you'll be doing:

You'll be responsible for supporting, planning and monitoring the day-to-day delivery of health improvement programmes by ensuring the programme is in line with national and local policies, and is delivered on time, to budget and within appropriate quality levels. You'll liaise with a range of stakeholders to develop and maintain positive relationships with both internal and external partners. You'll prepare reports, briefings and presentations that will update on programme delivery and progress. You will develop and deliver training programmes. With guidance from the programme leads, you'll support procurement exercises and manage contracts for public health services, while evaluating and reviewing performance.

What you'll need:

You'll have experience and knowledge of project management and good practice to deliver programmes to a high standard. You'll have a good understanding of the wider determinants of health and the role local government and other agencies play in the health and wellbeing agenda. Using strong analytical skills, you'll be able to effectively analyse issues and implement effective, creative, and innovative solutions, while identifying and managing risks. With your excellent IT skills, you'll be able to maintain and develop spreadsheets, prepare engaging presentations for a variety of audiences, and utilise project management and communication tools. You'll be able to develop and deliver training to a range of clients, whilst looking to continually improve services. With excellent communication skills, you'll be able to work effectively as part of a team, facilitate discussions, develop networks and negotiate with decision makers.
