Your Role 

We are looking for a Fostering Independent Reviewing Officer to join our team. Key responsibilities include:

• To chair foster carer reviews for all approved foster carers in Stockport, both mainstream and kinship carers.

• To provide a robust quality assurance role and promote excellence in this area of practice.

• To maintain compliance with fostering Regulations and Standards.

• To work effectively with the fostering service to improve and maintain best practice at all times. 

About You

You will need to have experience of working within a busy fostering service ideally at management level. You will need the ability and confidence to work in a fast-paced environment, a proven track record of prioritising workloads and be passionate about providing the best possible care for our local children. Ideally you will have experience from previously working in an IRO role.

About Us

As an Independent Reviewing Officer, you will sit with the IRO team although have close links with the fostering service.

The IRO team sits within the Safeguarding and Learning Service and alongside colleagues from Workforce Development and the Children and Adult’s Safeguarding Partnerships.  We are an enthusiastic, supportive and experienced team and are keen to share our skills and knowledge - and learn new ones too! 

You will be joining a well-established successful fostering service who welcome creativity and innovation. The fostering service has an established management structure and due to recent investment three well-staffed teams, kinship care team, mainstream support and supervision team and the mainstream recruitment team. We have approximately 225 approved fostering families. Stockport have a well embedded Mockingbird model with 5 constellations fully operational. The Service Lead is accessible as are the wider social care teams and there is a well embedded restorative model and Stockport Families approach to service delivery.
