Job description
We are seeking an experienced individual for a Nurse Prescriber job role in Lancaster to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care to our patients. You will be responsible for assessing patients, diagnosing common illnesses and injuries, and also prescribing medication as necessary.
Active NMC registration
Independent prescribing qualification
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals
Experience working in a primary care setting preferred
– To monitor and also oversee the health of patients
– Prescribing medication to patients
– Providing patient education
– To collaborate with other healthcare professionals

Bachelor’s degree in nursing or equivalent
Independent prescribing qualification
Experience in a similar role preferred
Minimum of 2 years experience as an independent prescribing Nurse Prescriber
Experience in a primary care setting preferred
We offer competitive rates of £35 to £70 per hour (all inclusive of holiday pay).

How to become a nurse prescriber in the UK?
Below are some general steps to which one can become a nurse prescriber in the UK:
Firstly, you must be a registered nurse from the the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC)
Secondly, you must meet the requirements set by the NMC which include having experience of at least a minimum of three years of post-registration. On these three years one must be in a clinical area in which you intend to prescribe.
Thirdly, you must have completed a NMC course that has been approved by the the Council either in university or any other educational institution. The duration of this course usually takes around six to twelve months.
Fourthly, you are required to gain enough experience under the supervision of a medical practitioner also known as a DMP.
Additionally, you must apply for the prescriber qualification from the NMC council upon gaining the experience mentioned above
Lastly, you are required to register as a nurse prescriber upon acquiring the nurse prescriber qualification.
