Early Years Practitioner - Job Description:

The information supplied within this Job Description is to list the responsibilities, expertise required; and to set out how the role is committed to safeguarding within the setting.
JOB TITLE:
Title: Early Years Practitioner (EYP)
RESPONSIBLE TO:
• The Manager and the Owner of the Nursery
JOB OVERVIEW:
The EYP will work as part of team with other staff to care for the children in the setting and to provide activities and experiences to engage them in their learning and development. They will follow the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and will be part of the OFSTED inspection process.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To effectively deliver the requirements of the EYFS ensuring that the individual needs and interest of children in the setting are met (working together with other team members)

• To keep records of key children’s development and share with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life. (as per the settings procedures)

• To ensure the setting meet the needs of the individual children having an awareness of any Protected Characteristics such as disabilities, family cultures and medical needs.

• To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents/carers and to ensure day-to-day caring and early learning needs are met to a high level

• To advise Manager/Designated Safeguarding Lead of any concerns, e.g., over children, parents, the safety of the environment, preserving confidentiality as necessary

• To read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to the role and the safe running of the setting to include Safeguarding.

• Support all adults and engage as a team working together to fulfil the aims of the setting.

• To be flexible within working practices of the setting, undertaking other responsible duties where needed, such as domestic tasks, preparation of meals, cleansing of equipment, etc.

• To develop your role within the team, especially about being an EYP

• To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g., training, staff meetings, etc.

• To keep any information confidential regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job GDPR and Data Protection Act.

• To be aware of the high profile of the setting and to always uphold its standards, both in work hours and outside.

• To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed in accordance with the nurseries aims and objectives.

• To work in partnership with management to review and update the self-evaluation and improvement plan.

• To ensure high standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are always maintained; to report any issues.

• To adhere to Government and Public Health England legislation and guidance around diseases, i.e., Covid-19
