A Vacancy at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will have the exciting opportunity becoming a member of the expanding interventional radiology team within the brand-new Kent Interventional Radiology Centre being built at Kent and Canterbury Hospital. Presenting the exciting opportunity of being part of the establishment of a Centre of Excellence.

Under supervision the post holder will be part of a dynamic Multidisciplinary team aiding in the provision of a high standard of patient care within the Kent Interventional Radiology Centre. Participating in Theatre and Day case unit work, as directed by Senior Staff.

After appropriate training you will assist the trained theatre staff in delivering direct patient care within the operating theatre by undertaking the role of the circulating practitioner during surgical procedures. Where appropriate you will be trained to work in the Day case unit area assisting in the recovery of patients pre and post procedural care.

Duties will include packing and unpacking the instrument trolleys. Tracking equipment using a scanning device attached to the h-trac operating system. providing a patient transportation services within the KIRC, collecting and returning patients from and to other wards and departments.

The organisation is currently launching its new improvement focus in the form of an improvement system called We Care. The We Care System is a fundamentally new model that the organisation will be shifting to, it champions empowerment, promotes innovation and will bolster the connection and collaboration of staff throughout the organisation.

The We Care System utilises a multi-layered approach to improvement allowing staff to develop and produce a variety of ideas to combat the issues and problems that have been identified. The system allows for the deployment of:
• Strategic Initiatives which are long term projects and focus led and driven by our executive
• Trust Priority Improvement Projects which are short term projects allocated to a range of project teams made up from our staff groups focusing on impacting our True North metrics and breakthrough objectives
• Ward Based OMS which delivers daily management and continuous improvement on the frontline
• Contribute to the efficient and effective running of the centre, to include the undertaking of clerical duties to facilitate effective patient care. This will encompass inputting data onto a computer.
• Under supervision participate in the completion of documentation and patient records in an accurate and timely manner.
• Assist the multi-disciplinary team in maintaining a clean and safe working environment
• Assist theatre staff in the receiving of patients into the IR theatre/day case unit.
• Movement and transfer of patients between: Anaesthetic room, theatre, recovery room, ITU, wards and other departments.
• Assist with the movement and positioning of patients and equipment under direct supervision of senior staff.
• Clearing, cleaning and restocking of theatre, day case unit, equipment and patient trolleys, and ancillary areas, according to guidelines, as directed by senior staff.
• Manage the movement of instrumentation throughout the KIRC and other departments within the hospital, packaging and stacking dirty instruments into the trolleys and unpacking clean trolleys scanning all sterile instrumentation into the T-Doc operating system. Replenish instrument sets and supplementary items accurately into the appropriate areas within the IR theatres.
• Adhere to KIRC and Trust operational policies and procedures, including clinical health and safety.
• Undertake tasks and procedures, in which competency has been recorded, specific to the care environment in which the theatre and day case unit support worker is employed.
• Respond to clinical incidents and complaints in a timely manner and in accordance with agreed reporting requirements.
• Under supervision, assist senior staff to deliver the patient pathway from admission to discharge with agreed reporting requirements.
• Any duties commensurate with grade as deemed necessary by a responsible member of the line management team.
• Complete and maintain your mandatory training in line with Trust requirements
