An exciting opportunity has become available to work as part of the Placement Commissioning Team (PCT) for Children Services.
The role of the Out of Hours Placement Officer is to find placements, which could be for foster care, residential care, special educational needs schools, supported accommodation and respite for children and young people. Working as part of a friendly team, the successful candidate will liaise between our Social Work team colleagues, Foster carers and external organisations to broker placements that meet the Care Planning requirements of Hampshire children. This is a full time role working Monday to Friday. Starting work at 2pm you will work alongside the Placement Commissioning Team to support the identification of placements required for that day. You will then take the lead in identifying placements outside of core business hours between 5pm and 9pm as well as any emergency requests received via the Out of Hours Service during these times. You will also be responsible to support planned work within the Placement Commissioning Team for ongoing placement searches, as well as have the opportunity to support foster carers via welfare calls for those placed in emergency placements. Tasks will include use of both telephone and email systems to engage in placement searching; completion of associated administrative duties; seeking information on databases and websites; attending in-person and online meetings; checking policies and documents and updating the Team Managers on your progress. The role is based within a busy and sometimes pressured environment and similar experience is desirable. You will need to work as part of a small team and be able to exercise independence to maintain and manage a handover of live placement search referrals from allocated Placement Officers. Time management and prioritisation skills will be essential, as is the ability to work to deadline. This is an office based role where you will be working alongside the Out of Hours Service in Fareham.Placement Officer - Out of Hours Job Description & Person Specification
