Job description
The role:
Responsible for all technical aspects of fragrance related topics such as evaluating the quality of fragrance and performance over time, to guide fragrance learning for MB in different technologies and categories. Responsible for development of new NPD Initiatives, discovering innovative application methods. To build strong relationships with other KAO fragrance labs, to become the key contact for MB on all fragrance related topics.
What you will do:
- Evaluate all fragrances within Molton Brown, tracking regulatory changes, product launches, line extensions, and rework. Present selection to marketing, liaise with fragrance houses for briefing, and support the development of each product in the range.
- Assist the Brand Marketing team in fragrance development for new projects. Create technical briefs, fragrance pyramids, and descriptors. Provide advice and recommend new fragrance trends with support from fragrance houses. Offer direction and technical guidance during the development process, incorporating market newness and innovation.
- Support formulation and lead fragrance development for home, beauty, and fine fragrance ranges. Drive continuous improvement across all product categories and educate the business on category enhancements, including formulation and packaging stability.
- Establish a fragrance library for Molton Brown references and submissions from fragrance houses. Keep the library up to date and create an electronic library with key features such as brand, sub-brand, name, top/heart/base notes, and search function capability.
- Assist copywriting and creative teams with fragrance-related questions, website content, pyramids, and ingredient evaluations.
- Organize training and education sessions for Molton Brown colleagues as needed.
What you need:
- Chemistry degree or equivalent with 5 years of experience in cosmetic/fragrance industry as an evaluator.
- Possesses olfactive skills gained from both experience and fragrance school, along with influential fragrance skills.
- Knowledgeable in fragrance quality control.
- Self-motivated with strong influencing and scientific problem-solving skills.
- Capable of providing technical direction to team members not directly managed.
- Confident in presenting and hosting meetings with fragrance houses. Understands technical issues, such as interactions of fragrance with bases and stability concerns.
