To support our continued growth we are looking for a 11kV Design Estimator to join our team. Your new role
- Analysing plans, bills of quantities and other project documentation in order to estimate costs
- Undertake desktop site surveys and liaise with customers to identify their requirements
- Liaise with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) to obtain budget quotations and obtain connections offers
- Liaise with Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs) to obtain quotations for Asset Values
- Researching, sourcing, negotiating and obtaining the best prices and quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
- Produce electrical designs and documentation in accordance with relevant regulations and standards, such as ENA Engineering Recommendation G81
- Produce electrical estimates to support delivery of the design ensuring it meets the customers’ requirements
- Produce a scope of works suitable for the clients understanding within a quote template
- Attend design review meetings with clients, DNOs & IDNOs
- Submit connection applications and provide ongoing support to customers throughout the connection process
- Create Design Approval packs for submission to DNOs & IDNOs
- Ensure that designs meet customer requirements and are delivered on time and within budget
- Carry out technical audits and checks on designs produced by other team members
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations and standards and ensure compliance in all designs
- Provide technical support to other team members as required
- Handover of Approved Designs to construction
- Provide monthly reports to the Head of ICP on ongoing projects
About you
- Qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Full UK driving license
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards, such as ENA Engineering Recommendation G81
- Experience in electrical design, ideally in a utilities or ICP context
- Experience of using relevant design software, such as AutoCAD or MicroStation
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to overcome design challenges
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver on time and within budget
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong decision making capability and strong implementation skills
- High level of resilience
