Job description

A busy Sri Lankan restaurant based in Hull is seeking an experienced Sri Lankan Speciality Chef with experience in working within a Sri Lankan kitchen. You will have the required level of skills and knowledge for preparing, cooking and finishing complex made to order regional and traditional Sri Lankan Curries using fresh ingredients and traditional cooking methods. You will be required to prepare complex marinades, concentrated stock, herb & spice blends, and ingredient fusions as required daily basis. You will also be involved in planning of seasonal dishes and specials in addition to our established menus. Further duties will be requisitions or purchases and examines foodstuffs from suppliers to ensure quality; plans menus, prepares, seasons and cooks foodstuffs or oversees their preparation and monitors the quality of finished dishes; supervises, organises and instructs kitchen staff and manages the whole kitchen or area of the kitchen; ensures relevant hygiene and health and safety standards are maintained within the kitchen; plans and co-ordinates kitchen work such as fetching, clearing and cleaning of equipment and utensils.
To qualify for selection you should have the following minimum requirements:

· High level creativity and competency in preparation and cooking skills of Sri Lankan dishes and be able to demonstrate skills in preparing the above food
· Expertise in the creation of high quality spice fusions, Sri Lankan marinades and curry bases.
· At lease previous experience at required skill level
· Willing to assume responsibility
· Excellent Communication skills in English.
· Maintain personal hygiene and highest professional food quality, safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen
· A hardworking, Self-confident individual who can work under pressure whilst maintaining agility and composure.
